SIMPLE KNITTED LACE SCARF
Approximately 400 yards worsted weight yarn
US #8 Needles
Notes on knitting lace from charts:
This lace scarf is written using pattern no. 41 from Knitting Lace by Suzanne Lewis.
Gauge: 5sts = 1 inch on stockinette st.
Cast on 51 sts and knit 9 rows garter st.
Row 1: K5, place marker (M), *K1, P1, YO, SSK, P1,* repeat across to last 6 sts, K1, (M), K5.
Row 2: K5, (M), P1, *K1, P2, K1, P1* repeat across to last 5 sts, (M), K5.
Row 3: K5, (M), *K1, P1, K2tog, YO, P1* repeat across to last 6 sts, K1, (M), K5.
Row 4: K5, (M), P1, *K1, P2, K1, P1* repeat across to last 5 sts, (M), K5.
Repeat rows 1-4 until approx 1 ½ inches from end of scarf. Change back to garter st for 9 rows and bind
You should block your scarf when finished as this produces a much lacier effect.
Your scarf should measure
11 - 12 inches wide when blocked depending on your personal preferences.
