Don’t forget, the yarn tasting is tomorrow, February 2nd! Meagan and I have been working hard to get everything ready and it’s going to be great! There are goodies for the first 50 people, door prizes and a special deal for everyone but you have to show up to find out what’s going on.

Hello 2012!
I hope everyone had an enjoyable holiday season. Ours was quite peaceful, surrounded with family and friends… and the community at the shop was wonderful as everyone finished up their 2011 projects.
Now that the holidays are behind us, its time to get back to our normal schedule and plan for the events of 2012! That means Thursday night drop in knitting from 6pm to 9pm and Sunday Stitchin’ at the Studio from 1pm to 4pm.
Book club meets usually last Thursday of every month, but because of the holiday, December’s meeting is tomorrow! Drop in at 1pm – we’re discussing Jane Austen’s Northanger Abbey.
And don’t forget to Save The Date for the Yarn Tasting from Cascade! On Thursday, February 2, 2012 from 6:30pm to 9pm, Cascade Yarn Company will be having a Yarn Tasting in our shop. Come in and try out the yarns before we order!

I love knitting magazines and most of my friends know it, so when it comes time to weed out their collections they bring them to me. It’s kind of like Christmas and my birthday all rolled into one and Sunday I spent an afternoon sorting through the latest donations. I have a LOT of magazines. I love them, I use them and I look through them when I am seeking inspiration.
As you can imagine, I often get duplicates of magazines I already have, and here is my problem. I can’t throw them away! I just can’t do it, so I came up with the brilliant idea to offer them to my friends and customers. All you have to do is come by and go through the pile, pick out what you want and take it home with you. When I get tired of dusting the pile I might just haul the lot of them to Half-Price books, not because I think they are worth a fortune… I just can’t throw them away.
Weather Announcements
It seems like winter is here now in DFW, so it is a good time to remind everyone about our shop policy on weather announcements.
If we decide the weather is too bad for us to open on a regular day, we will make an announcement here on the blog, on our Facebook Page, on our Twitter feed, and on our news group on Ravelry. If you think the weather looks bad and you want to know if we are open or not, please check those pages first. If we have not made an announcement, we will be open for our regular hours. You are, of course, welcome to call the shop as well, but announcements will be made there first.

Holiday Hideaway
Tired of Black Friday sales? We are, too! So we decided to do something different on Thanksgiving weekend – we’ll be closed Thanksgiving day to share it with our family and on Friday, November 25, we will open at noon and stay open until 5pm. We’ll continue to have our normal hours all weekend. And on top… of it all, we will not be having a sale. No hype, no fuss, no holiday pressure.
What we will have is fun and fibery goodness! Our friends at Knitting Rose and The Buffalo Wool Co. have brought a special selection of yarns for your crochet and knitting projects. Have you knit with bison down before? That stuff is AMAZING! Softer and warmer than wool and the colors are unbelievable.
You know you want to come! And, we have plenty of parking and fresh cookies- baked right here in the store for you this weekend only.
Afghan DONE!
I wove in the last end Thursday night. Isn’t it pretty? I had enough yarn left to start a quick little baby hat from the book 60 Quick Baby Knits
I am making the Ruffled Cloche.
I don’t have a specific baby in mind yet, just wanted to use some of the left over Kraemer Perfection from my afghan. Speaking of Perfection, we got a shipment in yesterday. The shelf looks so pretty with all it’s colors back! Also speaking of new stuff, the boxes are starting to pile up around here with all the goodness that is arriving. Be sure to come by and see what’s new soon.

Today I finished my latest hat. This pattern is one I wrote for Brooks Farm Yarn quite a long time ago but I decided to re-do it in Universal Yarn’s Classic Shades. I used one ball of Sapphires to make Natalie’s Hat. The top has me quite enchanted:
But the bottom side looks to me like it’s trying to say something…
I think it is trying to tell me to knit an entrelac scarf, so I am going to cast on for Natalie’s Scarf tonight using Classic Shades again. This time in the color “Storm Clouds“.
Ripples in the River – Next class to start
The next class on our schedule starts October 1st. Jean will be teaching you how to work the Ripples in the River cardigan. This cardi has a great basic lace – perfect for a bit of interest- and with short sleeves it can be year-round here in Texas. Prefer longer sleeves? Jean has you covered! The pattern calls for Kollage’s Corntastic which is one of my favorite yarn discoveries this year! Machine washable and dryable, comfortable and doesn’t grow with wear? YUP!
