And we are back!

  • Posted on April 5, 2012 at 5:19 pm

Wasn’t DfwFiberFest a blast? It was great to see everyone and make so many new friends.  We are already making plans for next year!

Getting back to the shop has been quite a chore but Meagan, Betty Kay and I have finally gotten it all set back up, ready and waiting for you to come shop.  We did move things around (never miss a chance for a good spring cleaning!) so be sure to check around when you come in.

We have replaced our winter display of wooly-goodness with some light, summery cottons.  All 10 brand new colors of Riveting Sport from Kollage Yarns have just arrived and there is a display of Classic Elite‘s Seedling.  Meagan wore a Seedling sweater during FiberFest and loved it so much that she has been busy making plans for all the other sweaters she wants to knit as well.  I just finished a sweater in Ty-Dy cotton from Knit One, Crochet Too.  I made the Tee for Two sweater and I just love how it has come out.  A little washing and blocking and you will be able to see me wearing it around the shop.

Just before FiberFest I finished a lacy sweater in Cascade’s Ultra Pima DKAnnie sweater The colors on this yarn are just amazing and it was very comfortable to wear.  I am trying to decide what I am going to cast on for next… Meagan thinks I should knit her a sweater in Ultra Pima.  I haven’t come up with any great plans yet so I am just plugging along on my Beekeeper’s QuiltHexipuff flower #1 My sister tells me that my nephew needs a new sweater for the coming winter and he has gotten so big that he cannot fit under his baby blanket anymore (hint hint).  I see lots of little boy knitting coming soon.

Gone Knittin’!

  • Posted on March 25, 2012 at 5:49 pm

KnittingFairy has gone to Fiber Fest!

Since we are transporting much of our yarny goodness to the show floor, the shop itself will be closed Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday (March 29th through April 1st).

You can come see us at the show – its not too late to get a pass for the vendor hall! We’ll have an elite collection of our inventory plus a few surprises and new stuff, too! Come see us there!

The shop will re-open for its regular hours on Thursday, April 5 at 1pm.

Thanks and hope to see you at Fiber Fest! http://www.dfwfiberfest.com/

Retreat!

  • Posted on February 28, 2012 at 1:45 pm

I want to tell you all about the fabulous weekend Betty Kay and I enjoyed at the Fancy Fibers Farm Winter Fun Retreat! Mary Berry is a superb organizer and the whole event went off without a hitch.  We arrived at Camp Copass in Denton (a gorgeous facility!) on Thursday afternoon and set up a mini version of the Knitting Fairy Yarn Studio in the gathering room.  Classes started right away and I heard TONS of nice comments on all kinds of different things people were learning.  I saw spinning, crochet, knitting, needle tatting, felting, Australian Locker hooking and more.  I only took one class, yoga.  I really enjoyed it!  I taught a felted Fair Isle Tote (Why do I always want to make that Fairy Isle?), Introduction to lace knitting and Entrelac.  I had nice classes full of nice people and I think we all enjoyed our time together very much. The best part for me of any of these events is making new friends and catching up with old ones I rarely see.   Can you believe I ran into friends I used to spin with in Lancaster, Tx over 20 years ago?! Fiber is a small world.

Mary will be opening up the sign-up list soon for the 2013 retreat (Feb 14, 15, 16 1nd 17, 2013) , so be sure to watch her blog for details if you don’t want to miss out.  I am already planning to be there and co-sponsoring the event again and I look forward to seeing you there!
